Penarikan Indomie dari Market Taiwan?!
Kabar besar dari negeri Taiwan. Ditemukannya bahan pengawet dan bahan-bahan bahaya di dalam produk kebanggaan nasional Indonesia, Indomie, menyebabkan kasus produk tersebut di market Taiwan. Kabarnya Indomie instan ini mengandung bahan pengawet E218 (Methyl P-Hydroxybenzoate). Media massa di Taiwan telah memberitakan kasus ini secara luas, merendahkan reputasi produk Indonesia ini.
Tapi kalau kita lihat. Bisa-bisa saja ini adalah suatu rekayasa yang dilakukan oleh sebab kompetisi ketat di Taiwan dalam bidang makanan instan. Dari detik.com, dikatakan bahwa masuknya produk mi Indonesia ini bikin bisnis lainnya was-was. Karena kita menjual mi yang enak dan murah! Contohnya saja, di Malaysia, harga Indomia dinaikkan 27% setelah sudah masuk ke market selama 1-2 tahun. Aneh, kan? Mungkin saja masalahnya bukan di pengawet atau konten dalam produk mi kesayangan ini. Mungkin saja ini adalah masalah persaingan? PT Indofood juga menurut saya tidak mungkin berani inves banyak uang untuk mengproduksi produk Indomie dalam jangka internasional bila mereka tidak memenuhi peraturan departemen kesehatan negara tersebut. Kalo menurut saya juga, semua brand mi instan pasti mengandung pengawet.
Kasus ini sangat penting bagi anak2 mahasiswa Indonesia di seluruh dunia. Takut aja Kanada ikut-ikutan ngeri sama Indomie. Lalu produk Indomie ditarik distribusinya. Lalu gimana kita mahasiswa2 Indonesia yang hidup dengan "staple food" kita yang nomer 1, Indomie?
Kita berdoa aja Indomie tidak akan hilang dari rak-rak toko T&T. Kalo sampe Indomie dicekal, ayo, mahasiswa2 sekeliling vancouver, cepet2 kita borong Indomie dari toko-toko terdekat lokasi kita.

SFUIA General Meeting
Hello beloved SFU Indonesian Association members! We welcome all of you new members to SFU Indonesian Association. And of course, welcome back to our members who have been with us since the previous semesters! We hope that you have had a pretty awesome first two weeks at SFU for Fall 2010.
The weather is cold and gloomy, nonetheless that doesn't gloom our excitement for meeting our old and new members. We will be holding our first general meeting and Icebreaker event this Sunday on September 19th, 2010 at 2PM! (execs got their meeting before this, BTW) This will take place at SFU SURREY campus since it's such a gorgeous place to be at, especially for new people who just arrived in Vancouver. We'll meet up at BLENZ coffee at the campus lobby. We will write detailed description to get to the campus below.
We'll be playing some Icebreaker games, get to know each other, and there'll be quizzes!~ Yay! Of course we'll also ask you guys to give your suggestions for events line-up. And if you got some great objectives and goals that we ought to achieve, we'd be more than happy to hear about that.

From SFU Burnaby:
Take Bus 145 to Production Way
In Production Way, take the Skytrain going to Waterfront (Westbound: Burnaby, Vancouver)
Get off at COLUMBIA Station
In Columbia you want to go to the other side of the platform
take the EXPO Skytrain going to King George
Stop at Surrey Central Skytrain station~
And the building is a mall, shiny, pretty looking thing.
From downtown:
